I'm a husband, father, and an academic radiologist helping with lots of biomedical projects--meaning I'm mostly a physician but also get to say I'm a minor-league scientist having been awarded over $250,000 in competitive grant funding as the lead principle investigator. This isn't much compared to full-time "major league" scientists who rake in millions in grant funding and oversee big labs, but it puts me above other so-called "scientists" who are actually science educators that don't actually test novel hypotheses but rather showcase what others do.
